Medicare Advantage
vs. Medicare Supplement plans

Connexion represents Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and Medicare Prescription Drug plans. Here are some differences to help, but feel free to ask our Medicare experts more about which plan is right for you.

Medicare Advantage Plans (also known as Part C) | Watch video (2:02)
Medicare Advantage plans are provided through private insurance companies, but contracted with and approved by Medicare. They are required to offer at least all of the same benefits provided by Medicare Parts A & B. There is a great deal of competition between the carrier’s plans that are offered and consequently you are able to find plans to meet your unique needs.

Medicare Supplement Plans (also known as MediGap ) | Watch video (2:17)
A Medicare Supplement Policy is exactly as the name suggests. It supplements the fee-for-service claims that have been paid by Medicare. An important aspect of this policy is that it only "supplements" the deductibles and coinsurance associated with Original Medicare Parts A & B.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (also known as Part D) | Watch video (1:55)
Like Medicare Advantage Plans, Prescription Drug Plans are provided by private insurance companies and have a Medicare contract. Plans can be "Stand Alone" or included in a Medicare Advantage Plan. Plans vary by many factors including monthly premium, deductibles, co-pays and the list of drugs covered by the plan.

More Videos for a Medicare education
While our Medicare experts can explain and answer your questions via phone or in person, you may want to do some self-education. We recommend the following online videos that provide some basics about how Medicare works.
